 Ecological/Regenerative Agriculture Online Learning Platform/Portal

Picture
Food Water Wellness is excited to be working with Alberta Rural Development in the creation of an online learning and information sharing portal.

We All Grow is an innovative approach to how information is shared that will bridge the communication gaps impeding healthy and sustainable food production and consumption in Alberta’s agriculture industry.

We envision a web of connectivity in which Albertans and others in the world can share and access networked agricultural knowledge including how to implement changes and why. Imagine a go-to-place where a diverse range of topics are featured on subjects such as:

  • Secession planning
  • Rural entrepreneurship
  • Reduction of operating costs
  • Diversification of crops
  • Sustainability
  • Carbon farming

In the near future the We All Grow will:
  • Create a one-stop shop for farmers to access learning opportunities through a variety of articles, stories and research papers and a smart calendar of learning events throughout the province;
  • Inspire farmers with digital stories about innovative farming practices through profitable ecological processes that produce healthy food and a healthier environment appropriate for the AB context;
  • Connect consumers with growers and to relevant information about the process of how food is grown and how it affects their health and help them to create a personalized food network.

 In building the portal  we hope to facilitate a paradigmatic change in the way that food is grown, sourced, marketed and consumed.

 We all Grow will also help build Alberta’s agriculture industry as it will:

·   Become a hub for Alberta organic and sustainable farmers to develop relationships with their community and establish better access to markets and consumers through online directories and forums;

  • Aid small to medium sized and family farms with strategies to make farming a profitable, viable livelihood, while increasing the supply of Alberta produced local food;
  • Connect applied and academic agriculture research organizations and institutions to famers and make research accessible, relevant and useful to farmers on the ground;
  • Facilitate a “Farmer Match” mechanism to bring together new farmers with seasoned farmers for mentorship and partnership possibilities;
  • Promote local Alberta businesses such as food stores, restaurants, or farm stores that are supporting ecological processes on an interactive map and;
  • Connect farmers with consultants, and other professionals who understand the unique challenges of the agriculture business and can help, including bringing product to market.
